Survival Guide for School-Based Speech-Language Pathologists ReviewI would recommend this book for SLPs as well as SLPAs. Has some great therapy ideas as well as suggestions for how to survive in the school environment (especially if you've been outside that setting for a while). Has sections that deal with paperwork, IEP meetings, etc. - very useful and informative. Unfortunately, because things change regulation-wise on a regular basis, this sections of this text will become irrelevant in time, but overall it is a great guide. Worth the money.Survival Guide for School-Based Speech-Language Pathologists OverviewThis comprehensive book presents a practical, how-to approach for creating meaningful and effective speech and language programs in the schools. It includes all you need to know to succeed in the public schools that you did not learn in graduate school. This valuable resource is loaded with detailed how-to tips and strategies for assessment, managing heavy caseloads, dismissal criteria, intervention, collaborating with parents and teachers, writing IEPs, and documenting progress, and designing communication programming for all students. It includes such diverse topics as phonology, articulation, fluency, language, voice, autism, augmentative alternative communication, hearing impairments, cultural diversity, and behavior disorders. This book is a must have for anyone who needs quick access to clear, detailed information on how to work effectively in the school system.
