Prefixes & Suffixes Grade 3 (Practice Makes Perfect (Teacher Created Resources)) ReviewI've purchased every workbook on prefixes, suffixes, roots, vocabulary, spelling, you name it, to help instruct my child at home, who struggles with all aspects of language learning. My son is in 4th grade. This 3rd grade book has been great for him. I've got the others for 4th and 5th grade levels, which I'll use with him next. I have yet to see any workbook which provides enough exercises to result in mastery, but this book provides a good combination of words/affixes to learn and exercises to practice. I've decided that I will have my son make up his own sentences using the words presented in this book, in an attempt to drive toward mastery. I felt this was a good enough book that it deserved at least one review.Prefixes & Suffixes Grade 3 (Practice Makes Perfect (Teacher Created Resources)) Overview

Minimus Teacher's Resource Book: Starting out in Latin ReviewThis is a very fun Latin program for children. It is very colorful, interesting, and user friendly. The author has a gift for teaching this subject to young children. If this Teacher's Resource book were priced reasonably ... I would rave about it to everyone I know and I would highly recommend it to all of my homeschooling friends. It is a great introduction to Latin for young children. It is, however, not worth the listed price, even if it came with the student book (which is an additional cost). It is a shame that this program is so overpriced.Minimus Teacher's Resource Book: Starting out in Latin OverviewThis elementary Latin course for 7-10 year olds combines a basic introduction to the Latin language with material on the history and culture of Roman Britain. Highly illustrated, the book contains a mixture of stories and myths, grammar explanations and exercises, and background cultural information. Pupils are drawn into the material as they read about the lives of a family living in a community at Vindolanda; the adventures of the children and the family cat and mouse provide interest throughout. As well as offering a lively introduction to Latin and classical studies, Minimus also has cross-curricular relevance. The material on the community at Vindolanda can be used to supplement studies of the Romans at KS2. The grammatical content helps to develop language awareness, and provides a solid foundation from which learners can progress to further English or foreign language studies. The Teacher's Resource Book provides support, particularly for non-Classicists. It includes teaching guidelines, English translations of the Latin passages, and additional background information, plus photocopiable worksheets.

When Dead Tongues Speak: Teaching Beginning Greek and Latin (American Philological Association Classical Resources Series) ReviewThis is a thought provoking and valuable contribution to the educational drive in England and America to revive Latin as a core foundation subject and as the key to European culture, classical and Christian. When Dead Tongues Speak: Teaching Beginning Greek and Latin (American Philological Association Classical Resources Series) OverviewWhen Dead Tongues Speak introduces classicists to the research that linguists, psychologists, and language teachers have conducted over the past thirty years and passes along their most important insights. The essays cover a broad range of topics, including cognitive styles, peer teaching and collaboration, learning disabilities, feminist pedagogy, speaking, and writing. Each contributor addresses a different problem in the learning process based on his or her own teaching experience, and each chapter combines a theoretical overview with practical examples of classroom activities. The book was developed for classroom use in Greek and Latin methodology classes in M.A. and M.A.T. programs. It will also appeal to Latin and Greek language instructors who want to get current with the latest scholarship and pedagogical models.
